Shaye Anderson is deeply committed to advancing the interests of his home region Leduc-Beaumont.
After being appointed Minister of Municipal Affairs in 2017, Shaye spent time travelling across the province, visiting municipalities to hear what matters most to Albertans. Shaye used those meetings to inform his work in the legislature, where he worked to modernize the rules that govern municipalities, make local elections more fair and transparent and update Alberta’s emergency management framework.
Shaye’s passion for connecting with and advocating on behalf of people runs deep. Prior to being elected in 2015, he was a telecommunications technician and during his time working at Telus his ability to connect with people was recognized when he received the Telus Communications’ Customer First award.
A dedicated advocate for workers’ rights, Shaye proudly served as shop steward and vice-president with his union locals, the Telecommunications Workers Union and United Steelworkers local 1944. He lives in Beaumont with his wife and their two sons.
